The Pop Up Elopements team were inspired by nature and the sea to create the perfect intimate wedding for a couple with an adventurous spirit, dubbing their shoot ‘Sleepless in Seattle: The untold Story’. They give us the details below.

A Seattle sailing inspired elopement

Amanda Knapton captains a motley crew, taking Mini Weddings & Pop Up Elopements to places, no one has ever been before.

Pop Up Elopements was established 8 years ago in Sydney and has paved the way for couples to take their elopements and Mini Weddings to new oceans.  The creative team behind Pop Up Elopements; Amanda Knapton Marriage Celebrant, Cassie from Bedford Photography, Yolande from Floral Fix and Lisa from Hazelhurst Café Weddings, meet regularly to collaborate and share big ideas, bringing together new and original concepts for each couple.

Their latest collaboration was: Sleepless in Seattle: The untold Story’. An intimate ceremony for the adventurous spirit!

An adventurous couple who have travelled the rugged seas, combed the deserted beaches and rocky coastline, collecting their treasures along the way, and fallen in love over and over.

Concept

The Pop-Up Elopements team combined the natural and raw elements of the ocean and coastline, with a nod to new world, old rock and pirates of the sea. Creating a unique wedding experience.

The Styling

The style was a collaboration of very creative souls in the Pop Up Elopement Team. Pop Up Elopements showcased a romantic and intimate elopement, consciously sourcing and repurposing every item for their wedding day.

Lisa Watson, from Hazelhurst Café Weddings, came up with the style and direction. Lisa hand made many elements for the shoot, including the bunting from old sail material, customised slippers and repurposed an op shop dress, “many of the items used in the shoot were op shop finds, items from grandparents’ sheds, borrowed and foraged. Doing our best to be sustainable along the way”.

Using our Styling and props we created the feeling of adventure and romance, creating passion, magic and fantasy.

Inside the cabin we created a cosy love nest, serving fruits of the sea, crusty bread, expresso martini’s, and the most delectable naked cake – the perfect way to a lover’s heart.

The Ceremony

Amanda Knapton – Marriage Celebrant – A Celebration Day crafted a natural, non-scripted ceremony, allowing the couple to share with each other their intimate and very personal love letters, written to each other during their travels.

Amanda Knapton – founder of Pop Up Elopements & Mini Weddings said “for the ceremony we wanted to create more of an experience and feeling, another chapter of their journey together”.

The Florals

The inspiration behind the florals, were as if they had been “picked from the rugged coastline” by the very talented Yolande of Floral Fix. “I love collecting wild grasses and creating original and natural bouquets.”

The bride’s bouquet was created with a range of foraged grasses, reeds, skeleton leaves, dried pony tail palm leaves, flannel flower, with many elements hand made by Yolande.

The groom’s hat was decorated with foraged grasses, reeds, skeleton leaves, flannel flower, paper daisy and blushing bride.

The Photography

Cassie, from Bedford Photography used her raw natural style to capture the fun, spontaneous and romantic moments during the shoot, “the winter light was soft and romantic – it was just perfect to capture those special moments”.

Cassie’s fun and creative personality allowed her to capture the couple at their best, acting natural and having fun.

Thanks to the Pop Up Elopements &  Mini Weddings Team and all the talented suppliers who helped pull off this amazing and original photoshoot.
