We challenged 23 talented party vendors to design a party inspired by a USA location.

Mid-century inspired Palm Springs bridal shower

Kat from Petal & Fern chose Palms Springs with a sophisticated mid-century vibe. She used an elegant, retro desert-inspired palette.

What made you choose your Palms Springs for United States of Party?

Palm Springs is one of our favourite places in the USA so the choice was easy. What’s not to love about an oasis-like city that’s also home to seriously good design?

What inspired your shoot?

Our shoot was inspired by the mid-century design aesthetic of Palm Springs and the amazing colours of the surrounding desert. Breezeblocks are a common feature of many buildings in the city so the shapes of these blocks were the inspiration for our decorative back wall, cookies, cake topper and swizzle sticks.

The desert colours were carried through all aspects of the celebration from the props and stationery to the sweets, balloons and other decorations.

Did you incorporate any current party trends or DIYs in your shoot? If yes, what were they?

Dried and coloured painted palms are a popular element in floristry at the moment so our shoot incorporated lots of them, as well as palm-shaped ferns to create a mini tabletop oasis. You can’t have a Palm Springs-themed party without a few palms!

Some fun facts!

• The stationery by Elk Prints is done entirely by hand, right down to the lettering!
• The dessert cup flavours by Mama Tuck’s are:

–Pink moscato jelly topped with lychees in vanilla bean, ginger and lime syrup

–Lemon cheesecake topped with blueberries and lemon curd

–Dark chocolate panna cotta topped with cherry compote

Cakes by Crumbs with Love were made with organic French Buttercream and choc raspberry.
