This pretty kids Halloween party, submitted by Courtney of the House Party Collective over in the US (based in O.C, California and Utah), was an epic and modern Halloween extravaganza of a party!

Details from the pastel Monster Mash Bash

Make sure you scroll right to the bottom of the page to find the list of O.C vendors featured in this party, and don’t forget to check out their socials for more photos!

Some highlights from this party included a beautiful white jumping castle (bounce house), a skeleton clad candy graze for the table, a shag cake featuring scary monster teeth and an epic self-serve candy wall (we are in love)!

Here us a little more about this party from Courtney.

“Our vision was to create a kids halloween party where pastels are the new orange with a twist of funky. We used  traditional Halloween pieces in our floral vases and created a feast for the kids on our kid’s  luxury tables and chairs. We made the ombre backdrop and set up some of our party rentals including a modern bounce house, candy carts and dressed up my kids and their friends to be the characters of the party. Other vendors in our community came together with balloons and treats for this Monster Mash Bash!”

It’s high tea like you’ve never seen it! Spooky and and yummy, this bewitching boho tea party was filled with beautiful treats, divine decor and lovely florals. Read on for the details of this Halloween party as recounted by the creators of this look, Pixels and Pop .

Bewitching boho tea party

At this bewitching boho tea party, guests were invited to pull up a pillow, select their brew of choice and indulge in some spooktacular tea treats! Decorations included boho wooden accents, dried florals, pumpkins and printables by Pixels and Pop in a palette of neutrals with black and purple accents. Tea parties are perfect for anytime of day, for guests of all ages and can be customized to fit any seasonal party theme, even Halloween!

Tea was served in cauldron mugs with DIY rock candy broom stir sticks. Elegant purple geode menu cards, gold cloth napkins, white Moroccan plates and natural palm leaf chargers were placed at each seat on top of a black mesh tablecloth.

A white teapot of hot water sat upon a decorative wooden charger in the middle of the table next to a spell book box containing an array of different teas for guests to choose from. A cauldron vase filled with dried florals, some of which I spray painted, made for an enchanting centrepiece.

When it comes to tea parties, a variety of delicious finger foods is a must! For the main course I served 4 different types of tea sandwiches; Egg Salad, Cucumber, Chicken Salad and Strawberry. The sweet treats included coconut macaroons, maple cookies, vanilla bean scones and french macaroons, some of which I served peeking out of more spell book boxes. Ghost-berry Jam was served in a small cauldron as an optional addition to the scones. I used an edible marker to decorate the french macaroons and added candy eyes onto the scones with frosting for another fun and spooky touch!

A spooktacular time was had by all against a fireplace backdrop of magical apothecary containers and candles. Each guest took some hocus pocus home with them in the form of a string of decorative witchy beads gifted in a cauldron.

Strawberry Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

    • 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
    • thinly sliced strawberries
    • fresh basil
    • balsamic glaze

Directions:
Spread Boursin cheese on sandwich bread. Layer thinly sliced strawberries and chopped basil over cheese. Drizzle with balsamic glaze. Sandwich with another slice of bread. Cut off crusts, then cut sandwiches into triangles.

Read on for the story of the mint green halloween mini monster mash!

Check out Riner & Company’s epic pastel Halloween from a couple of years back here.

Mint green monster mash Halloween party

With Covid, instead of having the big crowd of family, friends, and monsters, we opted for a super fun and intimate “Mint Green Halloween” mini Monster Mash!

This get-together featured a Mom & Me table setup (where we donned our scientist and robot costumes), an outdoor movie night and popcorn with the cousins, a paint the pumpkin station and some spooky good treats that included a flying ghost cake and perfectly decorated cookies.

There was also a coffee bar for mom featuring a delicious iced pumpkin spice latte and spiked apple cider topped with candy corn! We had a blast and are so thankful for our vendors who helped pull it together amidst a pandemic!

Dark red Halloween glamour party

Ghosts and skeletons, creatures of the night, come one, come all in the threads of the Season.

When witches go riding and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, tis near Halloween.

When you think of Halloween you think of creepy, blood and gore, we elaborated on this concept and created something extraordinary that did not only capture Halloween but also incorporating a touch elegance and luxury.

The colour of blood was our muse for the balloon work. The simplicity of the dark red palette used enhanced the black statement pieces such as the floral arrangements, black backdrop and plinths. skulls and bones were strategically placed to give the illusion as if they we are emerging from the blood toned balloons. Cobwebs and black foliage were carefully entwined throughout the set up to complete the eerie experience.

Our essence is elegance and luxurious, to incorporate that into our Halloween party we added gold arch backdrops and gold dessert stands which were accompanied by magnificently designed skull sugar cookies and alluringly rich chocolate cupcakes with a subtle chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream. The desserts were inspired by the dark toned colour palette with a dash of elegance.

To complete the final touches we added lit pillar and floating candles in cylinder vases, we also used 3m high black draping to create a moody ambiance.

Halloween is about more than just scary decorations, costumes and treats, while the spooky celebration is only just beginning to take off in Australia, what cannot be denied is that it is fantastic at binging communities together

Happy haunting Halloween birthday

When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, ’tis near Halloween.

On a cloud covered day in early October three witches (otherwise known as Georgie (The Flour Shop), Jess ( Babe Instant Party Hire) and birthday boy mum, Kayla (Mini & Co.) concocted the perfect birthday brew.

Together with a cauldron full of local vendors a birthday party-turned-OTT Halloween celebration was born.

Witches, werewolves, ghosts and skeletons alike came from far and wide to offer tricks in return of treats.

We sat at a web covered tables, competed in eyeball spoon races, blew out the candles on critter covered cakes and told spooktacular stories.

Happy haunting, everyone!

As someone who gets creeped out easily, our aim for this year’s Halloween was a ‘not so scary’ party. Due to lockdown restrictions here in Victoria, we made our own fun in the backyard! Inspired by a colour palette of orange and green and with the help of a few (less) creep friends we partied hard and stayed home. James (Kristine’s son) dressed as a shark and had an absolute blast.

I know Halloween is over, but there were so many pretty things in this pastel monster mash Halloween party, I couldn’t resist posting it! Plus, it’s common (here in Australia I’ve noticed) for kids to have Halloween themed parties. Probably because our Halloween parties are not as epic as those in the USA? That is changing fast though.

This Monster Mash party comes from Riner & Company, all the way from Georgia in the US! Here is what Kaylee from Riner & Company had to tell us about this party.

The Monster Mash is a Halloween costume party we throw every year at our home full of yummy food, fun games, and spooky-good times!

The party was inspired by the character Allison’s family party at their home in my favourite movie, Hocus Pocus! I just knew one day I wanted to start a tradition for one of my favourite times of the year!

Family and friends of all ages are invited and at this year’s Monster Mash we had make-your-own-slime, best costume winners, pastel streamer backdrop with spooky fog, pastel monster garlands and balloons, spider web doughnuts, ghost tombstone cake, Frankenstein cake, pink punch in a witch’s cauldron, and so much more!

Halloween is upon us, so here is a fun recipe from our friend Sally at The Party Project! It’s a spooky twist on Christmas gingerbread houses, and they are the cutest thing ever!

Sally tells us: “My kids love making gingerbread houses at Christmas time so we decided to make a spooky twist on that for Halloween with this creepy village cake. I think Tudor houses are creepy but these houses are so versatile you could do any of the Halloween colours. You could just stick with the fronts as cookies, or you could make cake toppers, table place setttings or a large house stuffed with lollies for a Halloween party.”

What you will need for the scary house cookies

EDIBLES:
  • Cookie dough
  • Royal icing powder
  • Black edible paint or pen
  • Chocolettes
  • (Dried oregano for trees)
TOOLS:
  • Cutters
  • Icing bags (I just use zip lock bags and clips)
  • Toothpicks
  • Paintbrush (if using edible paint)
  • I have used some MACStencils cutters
  1. Use the cutters to cut out your houses, dipping the cutters in icing sugar or corn flour in between to stop the sticking.
  2. Chill your cookies on a lined baking tray in the fridge for ten minutes so they hold their shape whilst baking. If you are making just the fronts of the house to top a cake, stick a toothpick halfway into the bottom of the cookie so you can stick the rest of the toothpick into the cake to help it stand. Leave the toothpick in for baking.
  3. Once your cookies have baked and cooled, make up your royal icing into two bowls, one a thick toothpaste consistency for outlines and details and the other a thinner shampoo consistency for flooding the cookie. Outline the front, back and side cookies. Flood your cookies with the thinner icing, using a toothpick to pop any air bubbles. Set aside to dry.
  4. Pour some chocolettes into a bowl. Outline the roof cookies and flood with icing them dip into the chocolettes to give the roof texture and leave to dry. Using the white thick icing draw details onto the front, back and side cookies, including a door which you could cover in chocolettes to give it a wood look.
  5. Once they have dried, using edible black paint or edible pen, highlight the details and paint a ghost in the window. Now it’s ready to be assembled. Using the thick icing, stick the parts of the house together and leave to dry. Topping the roof join with some more icing and chocolettes.
As I’m going to top a cake with my house I have gathered some things to go with it – dried oregano and creepy cats to make a spooky village scene.

My kids like to help with the decorating and I can really trust the older two to do a great job where as the youngest will just try and eat it! Here is our spooky village cake, I hope it has given you some Halloween ideas!

Here is a little Halloween village scene with a few more of those houses!

This party originally appeared in Confetti Fair’s 2018 Halloween special edition. You can find it here. Otherwise, read on for the details from this rustic Halloween party, titled Creep It Pretty and styled by Stylish Soirees Perth.

Creep it pretty – a rustic Halloween

Anyone who knows Ali, from Stylish Soirees Perth, knows that she loves a good party. Whether she’s going to one, having one or setting one up for a client – she’s happy! Halloween has been her exception though. Christmas or Easter are her faves any day but scary, plastic orange pumpkins and knocking on strangers’ doors in costume just doesn’t appeal to her one bit.

Thus, Ali’s inspiration for this Halloween party was to make it light and pretty rather than ghoulish and creepy.

Halloween is traditionally is at the start of colder months (northern hemisphere) but as in Australia we are heading into Spring. Stylish Soirées Perth, together with Favor Lane Party Boutique chose a lighter colour palette of white, grey, peach and gold to reflect this. They wanted a rustic feel to this party so when Sandra, from Swan Street Vineyard offered her venue -The Old Shed, they knew it was the perfect location!

The beautiful Old Shed with the 10m long jarrah table and the huge wagon wheel centrepieces were features all on their own. The pale, corrugated tin of the shed was a magnificent backdrop for the large balloon garland at the entrance to the party.

The amazing, giant BOO light letters from Vintage Letters framed the entrance which carried through the rustic Halloween theme and made for cute peekaboo photos!

Pumpkins go hand in hand with Halloween so Ali painted various sized pumpkins in shades of white, peach, grey and gold. These were used in the gorgeous entrance display of painted milk crates, wooden crates, lanterns, pampas grass and vases filled with peach and white flowers.

Shelley from Favor Lane Party Boutique provided all the stunning, perfectly matched balloons and party ware. The peach, white, grey and gold can be seen in all the gorgeous plates, cups, cutlery, napkins and balloons! Her fantastic Halloween balloon stock even has foil bat balloons and script ‘Boo’ balloons!

Lisa from Cakes 2 Celebrate made the beautiful Halloween themed desserts. Ghost and hand molded pumpkin cupcakes, ghost cookies pumpkin cake pops, spider web donuts and the beautiful 3 tiered white cake with flowers, were the centrepiece for the wine barrel dessert table. Emily from XOXO Design created the divine laser cut gold acrylic cake topper which said ‘If you got it haunt it’.

Flowers by Pep created the gorgeous floral pumpkins for the table setting and the dessert table. Hand carved pumpkins were then painted and filled with beautiful blooms in tones of white and peach. The two wagon wheels were decorated with large pampas grass stems, roses, baby’s breath and grey tones of eucalyptus.

The darling little models wore farm style overalls, pinafore dresses and shorts. Thanks to Secret Garden Designs, the boys wore fantastic grey t-shirts that had printed hashtag Halloween messages.

The talented Viktoria Saar captured this shoot perfectly and embraced the natural light with her amazing photography. Her attention to detail and artistic eye is evident in each beautiful moment.

This rustic party has the traditional elements associated with Halloween – pumpkins, lollies, sweets, ghosts and spiders but displays a different, softer side to Halloween for those who want to ‘creep it pretty’!

This party is featured in Confetti Fair’s 2019 Special Edition Magazine United States of Party. Click here to see it, or read on for the Halloween Feast in Salem.

We challenged 23 talented party vendors to design a party inspired by a USA location.

Zoom Images chose to create a witches and zombies Halloween feast inspired by the dark, gory classic horror film genre.

A Halloween Feast in Salem

What inspired you to choose Salem?

The party is a gathering of the witches of Salem and their guests to feast on everything gross. I wanted to ensure that it was as close to the horror genre as possible and deliberately avoided a ‘fun’ Halloween. No Casper or Halloween pumpkins in this shoot! I wanted the stuff you would see in horr or movies. I had a vision but the next challenge was making it a r eality. I’m quite fortunate that I have a few industry friends and called my good friend Mary Ronis to help style the set. My conversation went something like “Mary, I have an idea for a shoot.” She was overseas at the time and wanted in before I could finish the sentence. My other friend Natalie from NPM had everything I needed so it worked out well.

What influenced the theme and styling?

I have always been a fan of horror and for years have wanted to do something like this. The opportunity came up this year, I held on and made sure I didn’t let go until it happened. It is also a good excuse to let your creativity go wild. The number of vendors that wanted to be involved really shocked me. Everyone wanted to let their darker side come out to play.

Which DIYs or party trends did you incorporate into your shoot?

I’m not really a follower of trends, I am more interested in looking at a different way of doing things. There were plenty of hands-on projects though. The painting of the silhouette was hand-painted by Jo from Jo’s Signs by Design. Those cakes, wow! Kathy from Fancy Events and Parties nailed the heart stitch cake as well as the brain cake and those cupcakes, so gross and awesome at the same time! Cassandra from Mama Tuck’s also brought in a pannacotta heart and brain cheesecake. Anne Marie Molloy Cookies made the eyeballs and finger cookies. Mary Ronis made the webbing and with the help of Mel at NPM Events, transformed the space into something surreal.

This party is featured in Confetti Fair’s 2019 Special Edition Magazine United States of Party. Click here to see.

Over the last few years, Halloween has gotten a lot more popular and diverse in Australia. If you’re eager to host a party for the kiddies that has all the classic hallmarks of a classic Halloween party, check out the details of this Bats and Cats soiree styled by Sophie of Sweet Sienna Event Styling! This party has some very creative ideas as well, so read on for all the details.

Bats and cats – the ultimate classic Halloween party

The RIP graveyard dessert cups were made by Sophie. You can find the recipe here.

Bats and cats – the ultimate classic Halloween party

Bats and black cats may have a reputation for being nocturnal and predatory, but on this sunny day, they came out to play in cute style! The focal point of this party was a creepy, decrepit old door, laid casually against an old timber wall. Folded paper bats, placed on the door created a very realistic 3D effect of a colony of bats waiting to swoop. The door was beautifully juxtaposed against shiny black cake stands, candelabras, and vintage black french style furniture. An old lace tablecloth finished off the look.

Nearby, an old skeleton sat waiting on a similarly styled chair, watching over our little guests dig into their treats. Beautiful bright and neon purple and green, with a hint of orange, provided the perfect contrast for the black.

A purple cake with a beautiful cat silhouette and orange cupcakes depicting a spooky sunset were standout in terms of colour.

Dessert cups, cake pops and cookies rounded out the dessert selection. Glitter encrusted pumpkins, orange tableware and two large neon green honeycombs also added to the colour pops. Our gorgeous guests sat down to the prettiest themed favour bags by Party Bag Lady in both purple and orange.

In addition, each guest had either a bat mask or cat ears and tail to wear and help them get into the Halloween mood.

A Disney villains inspired Halloween party

A very a grown-up Disney inspired Halloween

When Maleficent throws a Halloween bash and decides to invite her evil buddies, you just know it is going to be a positively decadent and dark affair!

A Disney villains inspired Halloween party

Maleficent’s Halloween dinner party was held in a ramshackle shed, and featured a grazing table style setting, with lots of elements perfectly suited for the big narcissistic personalities invited.

Upon being seated, guests were welcomed with rich black forest mini cakes, adorned with a topper featuring their own silhouette. Red wine was poured in personalised glasses and flowed freely.

Everyone was impeccably attired for the affair, with guests sporting luxurious and unique headpieces, including breath-taking crowns by Danica Erard Millinery.

Makeup artist Samantha did an excellent job of creating a look for our models which was
reminiscent of each villain invited.

The villains’ dinner party guests feasted on a lavish assortment of lamb rack, cured meats and fruits provided by Tania of Pan e Antipasti.

Decayed flowers and withered branches decorated the table, together with a myriad of candles to light the dark space. Large, shiny candelabras provided a nice contrast. Velvet placemats, frayed, created a grungy yet luxe touch.
