We never tire of a mermaid party! And it’s latest rendition, with an abundance of blues, purples and pinks make it all the more fun! This one was for a special 7th birthday, and the colours were teal, lilac, white and gold. Our guest on the blog today, Andreina Gonzalez takes us through the DIYs and planning.
The first important step, in any event, is to select the theme. In this case, with the help of a dear friend, I got a good idea for my little girl. She loves swimming, so mermaids were perfect.
After that, all the fun began. As I usually like to incorporate handmade pieces in my events, I started with the seashell shape invitations made with cardboard, glitter cardboard and some beads. I also made some mermaid centrepieces using different types of cardboard, foam paper, beads and tissue paper. For the faces, I used coloured pencil and makeup.
My last DIY project was the goodie bags. I decided to make seashells with two kinds of cardboard paper, including one with glitter and they turned it super cute.
The set up was full of pieces reminiscent of the sea. Sea stars, seashells, small transparent balls representing bubbles, some green tissue paper glued on the walls like seaweeds and jellyfish hanging from the roof made it with paper lanterns and streamers.
The final idea was make the guests feel they were inside a fish tank or under the sea and that was the reaction when they arrived at the party.
It was a magical celebration, especially for someone so special to me.
